From the presentations in my class, we learned lots of things about rise and fall of the kingdom of Arica. First kingdom was Ghana. Ghana’s king treated everyone in the same way. Ghana was a safe place to be in and it was located in a good location but it was taken over by Mali. Mali was twice the size of Ghana and it remained powerful for nearly 200 years. Mansa Musa, the king of Mali’s pilgrimage was gander than any other pilgrimage. After the pilgrimage, Europeans started including Mali in the map. Also, king was so generous with his gold which made the local money to devaluise. Songhai was under control of Mali untill the 15th century. Sunni Ali Ber helped Songhai gain independence from Mali. Askia Muhammad raised power and people didn’t like Sunni Ali Ber’s son so they rebelled against him. Songhai was the last biggest trading center in West Africa and it was larger than Ghana and Mali combined. Al-Mansur wanted to conqure Songhai and he wanted salt and gold so he took the 4000 musketeers to attack 1800 soldiers. 4-000 musketeers won and went to attack Gao.
