This is the link to the homework
#1 Think about the presentations and reflect on the projects your classmates presented and the information you listened to. Explain with details and specific information what you learned, what you found interesting, surprising, or shocking about the presentations you heard in class.
I thought everyone did a great job in my class and it was very interesting. I couldn’t really learn much from the groups who did an iMovie because the words weren’t really clear and went fast so i couldn’t read it. But I learned few things from the group who made a powerpoint about governance. I learned that some goverments pay the terroist money to cause problems and so that the goverments solves that problem which makes it look like they are like the “super hero”. I thought that the group who did the iMovie about peacekeeping was pretty good becuase they included lots of information and pictures that match the information so it’s easier to understand.
#2. What would you change to improve your project/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?
I think I would change to making something else like iMovie or Powerpoint because comparing to other people’s presentation, it was creative to use wikispaces but I thought it was little bit boring. Overall the text was good and I think we worked efficiently.

Question: Overall do you feel the U.N. is a successful organization? Why or why not. Cite examples to support your view.
Answer: I don’t think the U.N. is a successful organization overall. The idea of helping countries and trying topromote peace through out the world is good but I think the U.N. needs improvement on how they are responding to problems. For example, they couldn’t respond to the genocide in Rwanda that killed over 800,000 Hutus and Tutsis. They also couldn’t stop warlords from taking food for starving citizens of Somalia. The paragraph also mentioned the member nations sometimes ignore its resolutions without U.N. support.

My response is to Thomas’s current events.
Citation:
Author BBC News. “US troops die in new Iraq attack.” US troops die in new Iraq attack. 24 April 2007. 24 April 2007
Link to news article
Picture of event:

Map of location:

1. How are your two events connected?
Our current is now really connected but there are few connections. Both Thomas and mine happened in Iraq, and also people were injured and killed by car bombing. In Thomas’s current event, the US soldiers were injured but in mine, the people who were at a food market was injured. Also there are connections in two groups of people not having good relationships. In Thomas’s curren event, the US and Iraq isn’t going well with each other and in mine, the Sunni and Shia (the two divisions in the Islamic religion) weren’t going well.
2. What did you find interesting about this topic?
I found interesting that the people who were in the suicide car bomb also injured himself as well as injured the US soldiers. Thomas also mentioned that there was another suicide car bomb attack few days later.
3. What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I liked the way Thomas put the pictures according to what it says. For example he put the picture of the event under the question “Who is involed?” to show “who is involved”. (the picture showed the US soldiers).

Part 2
What I found interesting in my classmates speech is some of the informaiton. For example, I thought it was interesting when Sawyer told us that his god, Bes was the ugliest god ever. I also thought interesting about King Tut. He was only 9 when he became the king. He lived only for 18 years and he didn’t do anything that was really significant but he became famous by the tomb. Other things I thought interesting was Nefertiti’s mummy was never found, and also Rumses Ⅱwas the 2nd longest Ruler.
If I was to do the assignment again I will practice more on the speech and also do more research because I felt mine was pretty short. I will also work more on the costumes becuase I really liked my classmates’ costumes.

Part 1
Do you know who the first king of the first dynasty was? Well, I’m Menes, the first king of the first dynasty. I’m also known as Aha, Scorpion, and Narmer. Some people say Narmer is my father. I found Memphis, city of my capital, and is an island in the Nile, near modern Cairo. I did lots more things in my life that was pretty significant.
First, a little bit about me. I ruled Egypt in the first dynasty and I ruled during about 3100BC-3000BC. I found Memphis, an island in the Nile where I live in. Now I’ve told about me, I’ll tell you about what I did.
I also did few things that were significant. First, I started the first dynasty but the main thing I did was I joined the Upper and the Lower Egypt in to one kingdom. This is how the Ancient Egypt turned into the Egypt we know today.
What I did had some impacts on the kingdom. It had some impact on development in Egyptian’s life. Many parts of life improved by joining Upper and Lower Egypt.
These things I did made me famous as a king. I died at the age of 62 and was killed by a crocodile or hippopotamus. I, Menes was important because without me, Upper and Lower Egypt would not be together as one whole country.

Map:
1. What is the issue?
The issue is that more that 120 people was killed by the car bomb in the food market. They don’t know exactly who did it but it said there have been some violence between Sunni and Shia. There was another bomb at the police check point that have killed 35 more people. Iraq is not a safe place to be since the war 4 years ago. The Prime Minister of Iraq said that there will be better security by the end of the year.
2. Who is involved?
All the people who was at the market because they were killed.
People who works at the market because they have to rebuilt all the things and get more things to sell.
The killer because they bombed the market and killed people.
3. Who is affected and how?
Family members of the dead is affected because they might have lost their family member.
People who work ar the food market because they have to rebuilt things and also if they can’t start their job again, they have to find another job.
4. What would I do if I was directly involved?
If I was directly involved, I would probably help the people rebuilt the space and get things they need to restart their job. If they can’t start their job, I will also help them find a new job. Also I would make the security better so these things won’t happen again.

1. How are your two events connected?
My blog posting and Devyani’s blog posting is connected but not really connected. Both our article is about weather but my article talks about the US getting colder but her article talks about global warming and getting hotter.
2. What did you find interesting about this topic?
I found this really interesting that the global warming was our fault. If we recycle and reuse things, maybe we can at least stop a little bit of global warming. After she told me about this, I decided to recycle cans, bottles, and other reusable things.
3. What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I like the way she color coded things. For example, she put the citation in pink which made the audience easy to see. I also liked that she linked all the hard words to dictionary.com. She also labeled the pictures so it will be easier to understand the pictures. Overall, I think she did the best on presentation. (Her information was good too!)

What would you change about the final product (the wiki you created) if you were to do the assignment again?
If I were to do the assignment again, I do more research because I don’t think I have more than enough information. I have enough but I feel like I can do better on research if I can do the assignment again. I also will change the display of the wiki because I think I can organize my work better than the wiki I have now. At last I would like to put more links to dictionary.com. I added some but I don’t have much links to hard words. We didn’t use much difficult words but it will be better if it had some.
Look at some of the other wikis from any class and find a few that yout think are done exceptionally well. Tell me the name of the empire and the block, and thern explain what you like about the wiki.
Swahili Costal Trading States-Block D
I liked the way this group made the text not so long so the reader won’t be bored and it will be easier to read. They also wrote some in bulllets so it will take less time reading it . I also liked the way they had the links to the other pages well organized. Their page looked very organized.
Ancient Ghana-Block D
This group did a really good job on putting the pictures in. I didn’t get bored when I was reading and font sizes made me easier to read. They also had lots of links to difficult words and I really liked the way they put a page for extra information on Ancient Ghana. I think people who visits this page will know mostly everything about Ghana. |

1. What did you learn from this task?
From doing this task, I learned lots of things about Ancient Africa especially about Zimbabwe. There were not much interesting information but it was quiet fun looking for the information. Another thing I learned is how to make the wikispace better. Before when I was doing the wikispace in Science, it was normal. But now with help from the Ancient Africa Wiki Project! page, I can make my wiki better.
2. Did you find this difficult or easy? Why?
I found this project both easy and hard. The hard part was finding information about Ancient Africa. Most of the sites I looked only had information about modern africa and I had read the long page about HISTORY. The easy thing was making the wiki. I already did wiki in Science so that wasn’t so hard for me. As I said, the hard part was gathering and putting on the wiki was hard…..
3. What would you change about the process you went through to complete the wiki if you were to do the assignment again?
I think I will look up more information from books because probably the information from books are more accurate than internet. Also, I think I would have gotten more information |
